Mr. Ronnie Douglas Drake Sr., age 73, of Franklin, KY, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at The Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown, KY. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Franklin Church of Christ, with burial to follow in Providence Cemetery in Simpson County.

Mr. Drake was born April 16, 1945 in Franklin, KY to the late Paul Drake and Lila Harlan Drake. His brothers, Mike Drake and Larry Drake, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Kay M. Drake of Franklin, KY, 2 children, son Butch Drake and his wife Linda of Evansville, IN, daughter Rynde Dial and her husband Bill of Anderson, SC, 5 grandchildren, Jared Drake of Franklin, KY, Jordan Drake Brown of Frankfort, KY, Jada Faith Matney of Franklin, KY, Drake Dial of Anderson, SC, and Kathleen Dial of Anderson, SC.

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, RD laced up his running shoes and ran his last race. At 7:05 P. M., he crossed the finish line and ran straight into the arms of his heavenly Father, thus ending his battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The victory was his.

Mr. Drake was a retired maintenance worker at Tyco and Franklin Church of Christ, where he was a member, and where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Franklin Church of Christ, and from 6:00 AM until time of service on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Franklin Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Taylor Christian Camp.
