OBITUARY Rose Marie Spirito April 30, 1921 – October 7, 2018 Rose M. (Lupo) Spirito, 97, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife for 58 years of the late Saverio F. Spirito, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Born in Bloomfield on April 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Cristina (Gallucci) Lupo. Rose was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved in her spare time to cook and bake cookies.

Rose worked for Royal Typewriter before staying home to raise her family. She was a longtime faithful communicant of St. James Church in Rocky Hill, was an original member of their Women’s Club and was very active in their senior group, as well as the Stepney Seniors and Rocky Hill Senior Community Center. A loving mother and grandmother, Rose will be forever missed by her daughter, Cristine Szalkiewicz and husband Jim of Rocky Hill and her two cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Szalkiewicz and Lauren Szalkiewicz.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by all eight of her siblings, Francis Lupo, George Lupo, John Lupo, Petronella Pace, Catherine Cavallaro, Alise “Louise” Swingle, Mary McVeigh and Sarah Cartelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (October 15) at 10 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill.

Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. , Wethersfield. Donations in Rose’s memory may be made to St. Josephine Bakhita Parish (St. James Church), 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
