Obituary for Roy E. Pirtle Dateline: Alton, IL Roy E. Pirtle, 76, passed away at 3:40 pm, Monday April 23, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1941 in Carlisle County, Kentucky to Woodrow and Florence Long- Pirtle. On May 26, 1962 Roy married Betty Reed in Brookport, IL.

Roy worked at Olin Brass as a Caster for many years until retiring in 1994. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Betty of Alton, IL; a daughter, Darla Stumpe (James) of Medora, IL; a son, Richard Pirtle of Godfrey, IL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stumpe of Hamburg, IL, Jamie Stumpe of Rockbridge, IL, Faith Jenkins (Ryan) of Godfrey, IL, Lucas Pirtle of Jerseyville, IL and Johnathan Pirtle of Jerseyville, IL; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Deweese (Cliffton) of Tennessee Roy was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Sunday April 29, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Roy E. Pirtle please visit our Sympathy Store.
