Russ F. Tornow, age 89, of Genoa and formerly of Walbridge, OH, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Genoa Care Center with his wife and family near his side. He was born August 11, 1929 in Martin, OH to Frederick and Elsie (Iffland) Tornow. On February 13, 1951 he married Marcella Ruth Oehmke in Angola, IN.

Early in… Read More » his working career he owned and operated Russ’s Sunoco located in Moline, also at 795 and the 280 and a third on the 280 in Latcha.

Russ then worked in the warehouse at V.E. Petersen Co. in Moline over 33 years before retirement. His memberships included Zion Lutheran Church in Latcha and the American Legion Post #279 in Elmore. Russ enjoyed camping with family and friends, traveling with his wife Marcella and taking care of his yard.

He was a man that enjoyed to tinker with anything. All the same, it was his family that was the of his greatest joy. In addition to his wife Marcella, Russ is survived by his sons; Kevin Tornow of Walbridge and Mark (Pam) Tornow of Elmore, grandchildren; Andrew Tornow, Sara Tornow, Nichole “Nicci” Seem, Laura Tornow, and Christopher Tornow, step grandchildren; Erik (Adrienne) Sheline and Eryn (Ben) Bonnough, great-granddaughter; Kennedy, step great-grandson; Michael and sister-in-law; Alethea Michel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Evelyn Coultry and brother; Kenneth Tornow. Family and friends will be received 3-8 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from Zion Lutheran Church (Latcha), 26535 Pemberville Road Perrysburg, OH, where there will be an additional time of visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Officiating will be Rev. Steve Bull. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, OH.

There will be a bereavement luncheon served in church fellowship hall immediately following the cemetery committal service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to: Zion Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
