Russell Barry Wilson was born on March 8, 1963, in El Cajon, Calif. On June 4, 2018, he was welcomed to heaven by many family and friends who passed before him. Russell grew up in Shreveport, La.

, and, at the age of 17, he traveled to Alaska to visit family. He fell in love with the allure of the Alaskan adventure and moved to Alaska shortly thereafter, where he was a resident for over 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and people.

Russell is survived by his daughter, Nicole Helmer; two grandsons, Adam and Cole; his mother and father; two brothers; five sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Russell’s Louisiana Family would like to say “thank you” to Crossroads Lounge (his Alaskan Family) for everything. A potluck celebration, or what he would call “A Russell Day,” will be held at the Crossroads Lounge, 1402 Gambell Street , Anchorage, Alaska, on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. Let’s join together to remember one heck of a great guy who will surely be treasured in our hearts forever.
