Ruthanne Osterland Age 95, (August 15, 1922) passed away June 28, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She lived in Naperville for 37 years with her late husband Bernie before they retired to Warrenville and then moving to Joliet to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 2009. Ruthanne graduated from Batavia High School and Chicago School of Beauty and was a hairdresser before becoming a stay at home mom and homemaker.

She was an original Naperville Beach Bum, she loved bridge, swimming, cross-county skiing, traveling, cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting, her church community but most of all her family and friends. Ruthanne is preceded in death by her husband Bernie (2014), parents Harold and Aimee Sandstrom, her sisters Jean (Don) Anderson and Betty Lou (Roger) Bumgarner. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandy (Joe deceased) Gerrettie; son Phil Osterland; grandchildren David John of Joliet, Becki (Rich) Cherivtch, Niki (Mike) Georgopoulos of Arizona and Mark (Jen) Josephsen of Minnesota and 9 great-grandchildren along with and always faithful companions Tini and Jack.

She is loved by so many and will be missed for always. She lived her life full of love, laughter, silly jokes, compassion and very strong faith. The family would like to thank friends Matt and Maria Cap and Kent Liebermann for always lifting them up and Darrow Voitik for always making her look her best.

Memorial Service will be held on September 16, 2018 from 1-5 p.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd, Joliet. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Joseph L. Gerrettie Blue Line Heroes Foundation, 126 N. 129th Infantry Drive, Joliet, IL 60435 in her name.
