Shirley Ann Sills, 82 HARTFORD CITY – Shirley Ann Sills, 82, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Hartford City on December 26, 1935 to Fred T. Crockett and Marie V. (Daniels) Crockett. Both of her parents preceded her in death.

Shirley graduated from Hartford City High School in 1954 and went to Ball State University and earned a Nursing Home Administration License and ran Willow Hall Nursing Home (now Bridgewater… Read More » Nursing Centre). She married Dale Arlo Sills on June 19, 1955 at the E.U.B. Church in Hartford City. He precedes her in death on April 25, 2011.

Shirley and Dale wintered at Crystal Lake Village in Wauchula, Florida. She loved her role as homemaker, wife and mother and she loved spending time with her family at “The Happy Place”, which was their place at Big Barbee Lake. She was famous for her “Fried Chicken at Midnight Dinners” in the Big Barbee Lake Neighborhood.

She enjoyed crocheting and Swedish weaving. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She had worked for the Blackford County Senior Citizen Center, where she worked in the office, was their bookkeeper and the van driver for 10 years.

Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lisa Renae (husband, Michael D.) Musselman of Hartford City; daughter-in-law, Cindy Sills of Eaton, OH; grandchildren, Courtney Renae (husband, Kyle) Lechien, Blake M. Musselman, Elizabeth M. Sills, Ryan D. (wife, Lacy) Sills and Alexander M. Sills; great-grandchildren, Luke Sawesky, Isabel Mullins, Mia Sills, Lila Sills, Avery Lechien and Casandra Mounsey; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Bryan Sills and foster sister, MaDonna Uhrick. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City, IN with Rev.

Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018.
