Shirleyann Sanislow August 05, 1941 – February 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Shirleyann Sanislow nee Howard, 77 of Oberlin passed away Wednesday February 6, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was born August 5, 1941 in Oberlin, Ohio where she had been a lifelong resident. She graduated from Oberlin High School and furthered her studies in criminology.

After high school she married Richard Sanislow and together they operated a family farm and raised three children. She worked for the Oberlin police department and then for E and L Transport where she eventually became the Vice President of Human Res . She held that position which took her to Detroit until the company disbanded and she retired.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Sanislow, and her parents John and Jeanette Bernice Howard Jr (nee Franklin). Family was very important to Shirleyann and she will be missed and greatly loved by her children, Laura Stanfield, Mike Sanislow, and Julie Ann Wigton all of Oberlin and her grandchildren, Jonathan Stanfield and Alexis Sanislow also of Oberlin. Shirleyann was very involved in the horse industry.

First with her children in 4 H Ghostriders club and later with showing Morgan horses throughout Ohio. For the past twenty years, Shirleyann owned and operated High Society Stables where she bred, raised, and showed champion Hackney Ponies. Shirleyann could always be found at the Lorain County Fair cheering on her children and grandchildren as her ponies were being shown.

She loved spending her time with her family and friends. She adored her papillon dog, Bo. She will be missed for her caring attitude, wit, humor, and ability to “get it done”.

Friends may call Tuesday, February 12, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial services at 6:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. Pastor Dan Wright will officiate.
