Appalachia Virginia/ Abingdon Virginia Steven “Randy” Harris of Abingdon, Virginia was born in Appalachia Hospital on May 16, 1951. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 26, 2019. Randy was an avid golfer and a life-long Chicago Cubs fan.

He was a heavy-duty truck parts salesman for several companies for more than forty years. Randy loved animals, especially dogs and cats. He sometimes joked that he liked them better than most people.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl J. Harris and his first cousin, James Allen Minor, who served and lost his life in Vietnam in the conflict. Randy is survived by his son, Jonathan A. Harris of Johnson City, Tennessee and his best friend and love for 27 years, Faye D. Callahan of Abingdon. Visitation, will be held on Friday (March 1st) from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Interment will be private. He will be missed by friends, family and his three beloved cats. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Randy’s name to the Animal Shelter of your choice.
