Ted’s Obituary Ted Loyd Tucker, of American Fork, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on January 28th, 2019 after 84 fully lived years. Ted was born to Golda Hartley on March 11th, 1934 in Fairview Utah. His early years were spent in Indianola, Benjamin, Payson, and Provo Utah; where he worked hard on the various farms that he lived on.

He loved that life. Driving tractors, working with farm equipment, and exploring with his dog, Toby, were among his favorite things to do. His mother gave birth to his sister Rachel, and little brother Ray during those years.

He also looked forward to the time he would spend with his Grandpa Hartley in Indianola. He began school at the Peteetneet Elementary School in Payson and then went to Benjamin Elementary. Around 1946; Ted’s family moved to Provo, where he was forced to become a “blankety blank city slicker”.

He attended Maeser school and then finished high school at Provo High School. After that; Ted went to the Utah State Vocational School to learn auto mechanics. Ted had a lot of jobs as a kid.

He also belonged to the Civil Air Patrol and was a Cadet with them. Ted found his professional calling in auto and diesel mechanics. He became very good at his trade.

He worked for many auto shops; like Barratt’s garage, Ollie’s garage, Mack’s Conoco, and others. He switched to diesel mechanic work and finished a successful career of many years with Savage Brother’s Trucking. He was always willing to use his mechanic’s skills to help family and friends.

Ted married Betty Jean Woolsey of Lehi in 1954. They enjoyed 9 years together and had 3 children. Betty died in September of 1963.

He then married Ina Helen Gammon in 1965. They had one child together and loved each other for 53 years. During his life, Ted had many hobbies.

Some of his favorites were; boat racing, archery, photography, golfing, travel, fishing, stained glass art, metal detecting, camping, riding tote-goats, playing guitar, and tying fishing flies. He called square dancing and led auctions. He loved to listen to ‘true’ country music and would watch a lot of Hee Haw and Tractor shows on T.V.

He also had a love for reading and learning history; especially about the old west. There is a lot to be said about Ted’s life. Mostly, he loved his life, and the people in it.

He loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He loved to have something to do, and someone to do it with. He spent countless hours on all kinds of outings with his children and grandchildren and loved them individually.

He taught each one how to fish, and showed the joy of just being in the company of loved ones. He showed genuine interest in the simplest of things. He was quick witted to say something funny, or tell a joke, and loved to laugh.

He made a memorable impression on all who came to know him. He will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his mother; his stepfather Curtis Tucker, his first wife Betty Jean, his brother Ray, and his grandson Curtis.

He is survived by his wife Ina, his sister Rachel Case, his daughter Vickie Lee Austin (Keith), his sons Terry (Jan), Scott, and Greg (Debra). He has 9 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.
