Theodore L. “Ted” Clever Sr., 78, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in his residence. A son of the late Harry A. Clever and Ruth Relina (Camp) Clever, he was born December 3, 1939 in Sheffield, PA. Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served actively from 1958-1978 and also in Civil Service from 1989-1993 with 24 total years of service before retirement in 1993.

He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg, the American Legion Post 114 of Vandergrift, the VFW Post 566 of Vandergrift and the Slovak Club in North Vandergrift. Ted enjoyed hunting, Nascar and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his sons, Theodore L. “Ted” Clever Jr. (Bernadette) of St. Louis, MO and Charles A. Clever of Vandergrift, PA; a daughter, Susie McKenzie of Allegheny Twp.

, PA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol L. (Gourley) Clever on June 17, 2015; two brothers; and four sisters. Friends welcomed by his family on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 7, with the Reverend James V. Arter III officiating.

Interment following at Evergreen Cemetery, 620 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Twp. with military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences to the Clever family may be offered at www.
