At the time of his death, he was a partner with his son, David, in the rental property company of McHugh & McHugh, LLC. Previously, he was a registered public accountant employed by Goldberg, Wells & Company and, later, co-owner of McHugh and McHugh, owning and operating several area laundromats with his brother, William. Tom also served his country honorably in the United States Army in Germany during the Cold War as an artillery fire-direction specialist and intelligence clerk.

Prior to his health declining, Tom enjoyed many years of playing golf, cards, and bowling with his team, “The Cry Babies”. He had a great sense of humor especially when poking fun at himself.

He will be sorely missed. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Littenberg for the exceptional care he gave Tom over these many years, along with Dr. Peter Van Buren and Dr. James Boyd. Also, special thanks are extended to the wonderfully kind and compassionate staff at Mansfield Place, all of whom made his past few years particularly special.

Additional appreciation is given to Sandy Young for her generous care and concern. He loved and appreciated all of you! A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6, 2018, 10am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Burlington followed by the interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington.
