Obituary for Thomas Reed Plemens Thomas Reed Plemens, age 83, of Harriman, passed to his eternal glory on Thursday, September 27,2018, to rejoice with his Heavenly Father after an extended illness. Thomas Reed Plemens was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Josephine DuBois Plemens, sons Michael Wayne Plemens, William Reed Plemens, brothers Elroy Plemens, Raymond Plemens and Jimmy Plemens, parents Horace Newton Plemens and Ethel Mae Plemens, son-in-law, Lloyd “Middy” Middendorf, mother and father-in-law John E. and Tiny V. DuBois, brother and sister-in-law Harold and Helen DuBois, brother-in-law Richard Wayne DuBois. He is survived by children Steven Randell Plemens and wife Cynthia Plemems, Patricia Gail Middendorf, and Thomas Clinton Plemens and wife Alicia Plemens, sister and brother-in-law Rella and Carly Schrimpsher, sister Rachel Hobgood, sister-in-law, Linda Plemens, brother-in-law, Vernon DuBois, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Thomas Reed Plemens was born on January 21st, 1935, Harriman, Tennessee. Married to Josephine DuBois Plemens for 54 years. He and “Jo” began their life together by serving this great country.
He served in the U.S Army during the Korean war and continued his service in the U.S Air Force, making a career of 22 years of dedication to his country, retiring in 1974. He continued to work at the Department of Energy providing security for the K-25 Enrichment Facility from where he retired in 1996. He was an avid outdoorsman most of his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Mr. Plemens was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW. Funeral 6:30 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the Kyker Chapel with Pruette Plemens officiating. Burial 1pm Wednesday at the Roane Memorial Gardens.
