Venita Renee Scales December 16, 1960 – January 8, 2019 Venita Renee Scales, 58, departed this life on January 8, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. She was born December 16, 1960 in Forsyth County to the Willie Mae Scales Downs and the late Claudius Downs. She was a graduate of Parkland High School and attended Winslam Business College.

She was employed at Wake Forest /Baptist Medical Center and Budd Services at Reynolds American Tobacco Co. until her health declined. Venita attended Sunday school at St. Paul United Methodist Church at an early age and later was baptized by Pastor D. S. Stowe, Sr. and became a member of Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Sunday school and was a former member of the D. S. Celestial Choir until her health failed.

Venita was preceded in death by her father; grandmothers, Iola R. Downs and Nora P. Scales; step grandmother, Eula Scales Sawyer; aunt, Yvonne S. Jordan; cousin, Valnice D. Miller; and sister-in-law, Phyllis S. Scales. She leaves to cherish most precious, loving memories her mother; one brother, Ricky; cousins, Sharon (David) Barringer, Olivia, Durham, NC, Leonard (Kimberly) Miller, Caleb, Kaitlin, Gibsonville, NC, and David Miller, Jr., Raiford, FL; nephews, Phillip (Brandy), Reginald “Reggie”, Randy and Charles Hairston, Rural Hall, NC; great nephews, Phillip, Jr., Andrew, Zack, and D’Angelo; Goddaughter, Danielle R. McKay; God sister, Vivian “Peaches” (Albert) Williams; God aunt, Viola (Bobby) Kimbrough; special friends, Elaine, Patty, Lorraine, Sheldon, William, and Zedd; her Second Calvary Church family and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 11am Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with funeral services following at 12 Noon.

Interment will be in Bethlehem AME Zion Church Cemetery, Pfafftown, NC.
