Vernie’s Obituary Vernie L. Sleeper, 92, of Marshall, MO, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at The Living Center in Marshall. Private graveside services will be held in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Memory Walk of Honor in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.

Friends may sign the online register book at www. campbell-lewis.com Born September 7, 1926, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Roy A. Sleeper and Gladys Hunter Sleeper. On September 25, 1948, he married Dorothy L. Boyd who preceded him in death on August 14, 2014.

He lived in Marshall most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was owner/operator of Vernie’s Coop Service and then worked at Horman Meat Company, Wilson Foods and retired from Marshall Municipal Utilities. Survivors include one son, Bill Sleeper (Sue) of Marshall; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Vernie was preceded in death by one son, John Leroy Sleeper; three sisters, Edna Mae Sleeper, Katherine I. (Katie) Moore and Virginia Louise Dehn; and two brothers, Cecil Sleeper and Wayne Sleeper.
