Violet’s Obituary Violet Mueller, 88, Minot, ND, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Violet Ann Kinzell was born September 22, 1930, the daughter of Roy and Minnie (Mathies) Kinzell, in Drake, ND. Her mother passed away when Violet was five years old.
She was baptized at five years of age at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot. She attended a one-room country school through the 8th grade and then moved to Minot to live with her aunt and uncle to attend Minot High School. Her senior year she attended Granville High School where she graduated in 1949.
During her senior year she worked at the Model Café in Granville. After high school she worked at a drive-up, S&L Department Store and Bray’s Cleaners. Violet was united in marriage to James H. Mueller on August 16, 1950, in Minot.
While Jim served in the US Army, Violet went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone where she was employed for 24 ½ years. She retired as a telephone operator in December of 1976. Violet then worked part-time at Sax Maternity.
Following her full retirement, Violet and Jim wintered in Arizona for four years. Jim passed away July 5, 2006. Following her husband’s death, she continued to reside in Minot.
Violet took great pride in maintaining an orderly home where all were welcome. Violet would never turn down a chance to play a game of Kings in the Corner and would spend hours working on a jigsaw puzzle. She was a quiet, gentle woman who enjoyed visiting with her family and friends as well as following them on Facebook.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very important part of her life. Violet was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, And was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She had also volunteered for the American Red Cross. Surviving family includes: son, Allan Mueller, Minot, ND; daughter, Shelly (Paul) McDonald, Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren, Morgan (Tyson) Wallace, Jace McDonald, Spenser Mueller and Mallory McDonald (Tyler Smith); great-grandchildren, Ivy and Iyla Wallace; brothers, Donald Kinzell, Granville, Harold (Diane) Kinzell, Minot, and Dennis (Betty) Kinzell, Meeker, OK; sisters, Andrea Drader, Towner, Carol (Jim) Dodson, Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; brothers, Tom (Myrna) Kinzell, Jim Kinzell, Roger (Gladys) Haney; sister, Sharon Guthrie; sister-in-law, Audrey Kinzell and Carla Kinzell.
Funeral: Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
