Walter J. Benoit, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Wingate of East Longmeadow, with his loving family at his side. Born July 28, 1934, son of the late Walter, Sr. and Viola (Boudreau) Benoit, he was a US Navy veteran. Walter was the owner and operator of Wal-Ben Industries, Inc., distributors of swimming pool chemicals and related inventories.

A Past Master of the Spellman Masonic Lodge of East Longmeadow, Walter was also a member of the Shriners Melha Temple of Springfield. Walter is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Pansy (Rosser) Benoit; loving children, Walter J. Benoit, III, of the state of Washington, Robert J. Benoit and wife Lori, of Tolland, CT, and Darlene M. Beaulieu and husband Donald, of Chicopee; cherished grandsons, Matthew C. Benoit and Christopher J. Benoit; brother, Earl Benoit and Gale, of Chicopee; sisters, Pearl Charland and husband Ernie, of FL, and Elaine Jones and Andrew, of Ware; and several nieces and nephews. Per Walter’s request, funeral services were held privately.

There were no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
