Blaine, 84, a retired teacher with the Chicopee Public School System, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the comfort of her own home with her family and caregivers by her side. A native and lifelong resident of Chicopee, Eleanor was born on September 2, 1934, the daughter of the late Frank Blaine and May (Goyette) Blaine. She was educated in Chicopee Schools, graduating from Chicopee High School.

She received her bachelors degree from Westfield State College and her masters degree from Smith College. Eleanor taught Mathematics at Chicopee High School for 34 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the National Education Assoc.

and the Mass. Retired Teachers Assn. Eleanor is survived by a cousin, Suzanne R. Normand and her husband Mark who came to live with and be of assistance to her as her health declined, and her longtime close friend Marlene Kurtz of Agawam.

Calling hours will be held on Monday morning at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee from 9:30 to 11 with a Prayer Service beginning at 11. Her burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
