Wanda J. Lathrope, a long-time resident of Antioch and Rossmoor, passed away on July 14, 2018, at the age of 90. Wanda was born on October 12, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her family moved frequently when she was young and she graduated from high school in Dallas, Texas.

She attended Purdue University and lived in Indiana until 1962, when she and her husband, Robert W. Lathrope, moved to Antioch. In Antioch, Wanda worked as a bookkeeper and eventually became the business manager for Liberty… Read More » Union High School District. Wanda moved to Rossmoor in 2010.

Wanda enjoyed her family and friends, talking about politics, gardening, listening to music, shopping, and travel. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling for a day to a casino for some gaming fun. She is remembered for her devotion to and support of her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who was the principal of Antioch High School. She is survived by her son, Daniel J. Lathrope (Beverly), and her three grandchildren, Allison W. Lathrope (Ian Klink), Scott P. Lathrope (Paige), and Bret D. Lathrope. Wanda is also survived by two brothers, Robert V.B. Love (Ann) and P. Carter Love (Sue), and her sister in law, Marie Love.

Memorial gifts may be made in Wanda’s memory to the Lions Club of Walnut Creek, which provided her support when she lost her vision. A memorial service for Wanda will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Dollar Clubhouse in Rossmoor.
