William Arnold ‘Bill’ Schroeder, 65, of Richland Center formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 18, 2018 following a short journey with cancer. He was born on April 27, 1953 in Madison the son of Arnold and Helen (Christian) Schroeder. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1971 and MATC in 1973 with an Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting.

On September 6, 1975, Bill was united in marriage with Colleen Weisensel at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Columbus. … Read More » He began his career working with small engineering firms until March of 1980, when he joined Larry Fowler with Woodland Consultants Inc., in Richland Center as a Chief Draftsman until his retirement. In 2003, Bill and Colleen relocated from Madison to Richland Center after purchasing Alana Springs Campground.

Bill enjoyed playing, refereeing, and watching football, playing recreational softball for over 25 years with a great group of guys, and was a lifelong bowler starting in Junior Bowling in Madison and was still very active in league bowling. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Madison and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center. Bill was a Charter Member of St. Peter’s Knights of Columbus 10893, member of Richland Center Knights of Columbus, Father McKevitt Council 3492, serving as Grand Knight, and was a Charter Member of Richland Center Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly.

He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with a group of friends for many years at a farm in Iowa County. Bill is survived by his wife, Colleen of Richland Center; three children: Angela (Blake) Nelson of Sun Prairie, Julie (Chris) Qualle of Madison, Steve (Ashley) Schroeder of Montello; five grandchildren; two brothers: Gary (Carolyn) Schroeder of Wyocena, Tom (Sheila) Schroeder of Madison; many other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Helen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Richland Center, with Monsignor Roger Scheckel officiating. A private family burial will be held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in East Bristol at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel, 120 North Park Street, Richland Center, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to be prayed at 3:45 PM.

A visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 30 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at a later date in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination (GRACE), PO Box 213, Richland Center, WI 53581 or St. Mary’s Catholic School, 155 West Fifth St. Richland Center, WI 53581.
