William “Bill” Bobzin, 77, of Mahomet died at 12:17pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at OSF Medical Center. Bill was born on February 12, 1941 in Joliet, IL to George and Elsie (Jacobi) Bobzin and grew up in Peotone, IL. He attended Elmhurst College studying Theology.

Throughout his life, he was a lab technician, shoe salesman, and sales rep, but his favorite job was as a little league umpire. He married Ellen “Lynn” (Henriksen) Bobzin on June 16, 1962 and had two children, Daniel Bobzin of Mahomet, IL and Dana (Bobzin) Villa of Plainfield, IL. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and excitedly welcomed his first great-grandson in March.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellen; children, Daniel and Dana (Omar); grandchildren, Dustin Bobzin, Tyler Villa, Danielle Bobzin, Jessica Villa, and Danika Bobzin; and great-grandson Ashton Bobzin. A 42-year resident of Mahomet, he was an active member of the Mahomet United Methodist church who enjoyed ministering, gardening, going to community events, leading the Mahomet Senior Citizens Club activities, watching professional baseball (“Go White Sox”), and attending high school football games.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday (June 26th) 9 to 11am at the Mahomet United Methodist Church, 1302 E. South Mahomet Rd, Mahomet with funeral services immediately following at 11am. He will be laid to rest on Wednesday (June 27th) at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, IL in a private ceremony. Arrangements are under the direction of Blair-Owens Funeral Home, Mahomet.
