Obituary for William E. Nevin III William E. Nevin, III, 65, passed peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018 after a two and half year battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Tina A. (Vandermark) Nevin, sharing 34 years of marriage. Bill was born in York on June 17, 1953, son of the late William E. Nevin, Jr. and Mary Ann (Chalfant) Nevin.
He was the owner of The Galloping Groomer in York, where he fulfilled his passion for owning a family business and his love of animals. He was a former Physical Education and Health teacher in Kentucky and Florida. During his 15 years in Florida, Bill ran a Seaplane and Airboat Service.
He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting with his boys. He was also a member of the Victory Club in York. Bill was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown and liked to golf with his bestfriend, Greg Snyder, at Cool Creek Golf Club.
Bill loved to travel with his wife to find good local restaurants and jazz music. A quote from Bill, “Remember God, family, and Humankind, in that order”. In addition to his wife, Bill was a loving father to his daughter, Sarah Ann Nevin; two sons, William E. Nevin, IV and Sean E. Nevin; a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Ava Marie; a loving brother to his sister, Marianne Nevin Spangler and her husband, John; and survived by his aunt, Trudy Motter and numerous cousins.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
