William Joseph O’Connor, age 88 of Murrysville passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was born December 14, 1929 in Brookline, Pittsburgh, son of the late Edward and Alethaire Spalding O’Connor. He served as a Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War and retired as a Systems Engineer for IBM, Pittsburgh.

He was an avid tennis player through age 87. William had a wonderful Irish sense of humor, kind, generous and devoted to faith and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne O’Connor; two brothers, Paul and Benjamin O’Connor and two sisters, Kathleen Roderique and Sr. Maria O’Connor.

William is survived by his wife, Martha O’Connor; three children, Michael P. O’Connor of Pittsburgh, Robert S. (Camille) O’Connor of Ft. Wayne, IN and Paul T. (Jean) O’Connor of Austin, TX; three grandchildren, Emma O’Connor of Austin, TX and William and Grace O’Connor of Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, Rev. Edward O’Connor, CSC of Notre Dame and Joseph (Judy) O’Connor of Yellow Springs, OH; two sisters, Margaret M. Foster of New Braunfels, TX and Eileen (Urban) Karl of Pleasant Hills and numerous nieces and nephews and six stepchildren.

Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. Additional visitation 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
