She was an executive secretary for the Engineering Department. Eventually she was transferred to Irvin works where she worked until she retired after 35 years of service. Left to honor Maureen and remember her love is her daughter, Dawn Jacobs; four grandchildren, Erik Wynn (Christobel), Rachel Wynn-Fink (Jimmy), Shannon Anchors and Sean Anchors (Alaina); three great- grandsons, Zane and Levi Fink, Lincoln Moore; a brother, Eugene Hofer; many nieces and nephews and her lifelong best friend, Ann McIntyre.
Maureen also leaves behind her second ‘daughter’, Meg Tellin Gebrosky (Dan) and family; extended family, Dawn Marie Anchors, Kristen Anchors-Miller (Rick), Riley, Alexis and Brynn; sister-in-law, Shirley Richardson and many longtime friends. Maureen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward ‘Cal’ Jacobs; her lifetime friend and loving companion, George Rudolph; her infant son, Eugene George Jacobs; her two sisters, Vern Prentice and Trudy Hofer; and her brother, Richard Hofer. Maureen had a quick sense of humor and loved to laugh!
She loved a good game of Rummicube and was well known among the family as the expert! ! She also loved to play 500 bid, and played with her friends from the Murrysville Senior Center as well as the Millstream ladies group.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murrysville. She enjoyed over 30 years of retirement where she traveled to Florida every winter to spend time in her second home. Maureen will be remembered for her undying love for her family.
We, her family, feel incredibly blessed to have had such a kind, gentle soul to give us absolute, unconditional love and be a role model and mentor to us in life. Maureen was a precious, loving, kind heart who greeted everyone with a warm smile. She was an amazing Mother who sacrificed much to ensure her daughter had everything she needed or wanted all while working full time.
She instilled a strong work ethic in all of us. She took on the role of “Mom” and “Grandma” to many people other than her own. She opened her home to anyone needing a safe place to be.
“There is something to be said about a person who can love you endlessly and bust your balls at the same time”. Anyone who knew her, would know how absolutely true that is. Lay down your burdens and rest in peace, dear heart.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. Interment will be private in Murrysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Maureen’s name.
