Lorraine Iral Thompson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2018. She was born on August 11, 1947, in Victoria Village, Guyana, South America, and was predeceased by her only brother, Oswald Montgomery Thompson, her mother Hyacinth Enid Thompson, her aunts Edna Storey, Flora Thompson, Mae Olivia Sobers, and Rosalind Dettering. She is survived by her sisters, Desiree and Angela Thompson, Orlean (Dinky) Thompson-Boston (Mervyn); her aunt, Eileen Coleman-Miller; her uncle, Arthur Coleman; nephews, Gary (Taneka) and Sean (Yolanda) Thompson, and Joshua Boston; niece Jonquil Boston-Michael (Ian); cousins Doreen Small, Beverly and Michelle Small, Petula Giotis, and Joan Dettering, Hurde and Dawne Coleman, and Keith and Laurian Miller; great nieces Shaneka, Nya, Reya, and Jada, great nephews Malik, Jalen, Max, and Wes.

Extended family members include the Dowridges, and the Cupidos. At Lorraine’s birth, her doctor guessed that she would live no more than two years. However, the Lord gave Lorraine a full 70 years as He promised in Psalm 90:10, and in those 70 years, she wound herself around the hearts of family and friends with a fierce loyalty.

She always knew what needed to be done and did it if she could. She did not rack up any of the world’s accolades and prizes, but she certainly proved the nature of her amazing intellect on a daily basis. She remembered everything.

She made lasting friendships with everyone. She could sing and recite everything she was taught as a child. She was a stalwart even though she was considered “fragile;’ she was practical and straightforward, open and honest.

She loved to write her letters and numbers, and always requested books and pencils for doing what she loved best. Lorraine was always the center of every group, and thereby, kept everyone together, solidly. Thank you for joining with us to celebrate Lorraine’s life.

Visitation hours at the Hart Funeral home will be on Friday, July 6, 2018 from12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. followed by a service of celebration from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Donald Tucker of Allegheny Center Alliance Church, then interment at Grandview Cemetery, Murrysville, Pa.
