William Ray Lambert, age 77, of Amity, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born on January 23, 1941, in Amity, and was the oldest of three sons of James Lambert and Martha Stroope Lambert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his youngest brother, Roger Lambert. He was a logger by trade since his teenage years, after graduating from Amity High School. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Betty Ann Copeland, and together they raised their two children.

When not working, he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. William Ray had many titles, such as husband, daddy, Papa and friend. He was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ Instrumental, where he served as deacon for many years.

He was a hard-working, Jesus-loving, family man, who was a great example and inspiration to many. William Ray truly touched the hearts and lives of many. During his retirement years he continued to work around the house and loved to raise watermelons, which he would give away to friends and his neighbors.

His youngest grandson, Aaron, would spend as much time as he could with his Papa, learning to drive, doing woodwork, building tree stands, and repairing things. Aaron kept his Papa on his toes. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 56 years, Betty Ann Lambert; his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Gary Watson; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susann Lambert, all of Amity; six grandchildren and their spouses, Randi and Matt McElhannon, Brandi Jones, Chad and Claire Jones, Jaydin Cotter, Jordyn Cotter and Aaron Lambert; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Brenda Lambert of Point Cedar; his sister-in-law, Paggy Lambert of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 7, 2018, in the Shiloh Church of Christ with Ricky Collie and Chris Collie officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Wright, Jeremy Collie, Josh Mitchell, Lance York, Darrin Lambert and Chuck Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be his Shiloh church family, who will all miss him greatly, and his Cox Creek Hunting Club members. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the friends and family that have sent their love and support to William Ray and his family during his last day with us.
