Yvonne Poston Hicks, 83, wife of the late Leo “Red” Hicks, went to sleep on Sunday morning, March 17, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence and woke up in her heavenly home. Mrs. Hicks was born on October 15, 1935 in Pamplico, daughter of Ben Tilman and Floyd Elgee Collins Poston. She worked alongside her husband, Leo “Red” Hicks as co-owner of Hicks Used Cars, Inc. for 31 years.

She served the Florence County Voter Registration for 30 years, working the polls at Pamplico Precinct # 2. As a member of The Well PPHC, she served faithfully over the years as Sunday School secretary and teacher, WM secretary, Benevolence committee and helping with the Boys Club. She loved to read and do genealogy searches.

Surviving are her daughter, Vicki (James) Goins of Pamplico; grandsons, Jay (Lori) Goins of Pamplico and Brian (Leslie) Goins of Columbia; her great grandchildren, Benjamin Tillman and Andrew James Goins, both of Pamplico and Sara Elizabeth, Brianna Ashley, and Michael Webb Goins, all of Columbia. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons, Leo Hicks, Jr. and Ricky Glen Hicks; sisters, Ora Lee Poston, Scovy Skipper. and Virginia Ann Poston.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at The Well PPHC, Pamplico. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Pamplico. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2019, at The Well PPHC, Pamplico.
