Obituary for Algene Doninger Algene (Geiselman) Doninger, 94, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Parkview Care Center surrounded by her family. Algene was born November 21, 1923 in Boonville, IN to the late Theodore and Minnie (Walden) Geiselman. She had worked in the cafeteria at Reitz High School and also as a seamstress.

Algene was a member of St. James West United Methodist Church, the Alpha Domus Sunday School class and a life member of the Deaconess Hospital Pink Lady Auxiliary. Surviving Algene are a daughter, Diana (Michael) Effinger of Wadesville; one son, Gary Doninger of Evansville; grandchildren, Gary (Carol) Doninger, Michael (Wendy) Doninger, Chuck Alan (Anne) Effinger, Ginger Marie (Roy Jr.) Hart and Mark Weatherholt; nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Algene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Doninger in 2002; by a daughter, Charlene Clark; an infant son, Steve Alan Doninger; three sisters, Dorothy Wilson Seamster, Virginia Putler and Marcella Rawlings and by two granddaughters, Kathy Retherford and Tamara Retherford.

Funeral services for Algene will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Gene Backes officiating. Entombment will follow in Locust Hill Mausoleum.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James West United Methodist Church, 3101 Hillcrest Terrace, Evansville, IN 47712. Algene’s family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, Parkview Care Center and their staffs for the kind, loving and compassionate care given to Algene.
