Obituary for Paul “Donnie” Payne Paul D. “Donnie” Payne, passed through this world and into heaven on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Uncle Don, as he was known to many, was born the second of seven children on January 19, 1935 to the late John C. and Francille (Wolf) Payne. Donnie was a graduate of Mater Dei High School, where he played quarterback on the football team.

In 1952, he went on to attend Purdue University. Donnie joined the United States Navy in 1954 and served for five years. He went to work for Whirlpool Corporation in 1959 and continued to work there for 22 years.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Katharine (Prendergast) Payne; his daughter, Yolanda (Johnnie) Conner of Newburgh; a son, Patrick “Chico” Kincaide of Evansville; two sisters, Elizabeth “Sis” (Sam) Fulton of Mt. Vernon, IN and Margaret Sallee of Evansville; a brother, Ralph “Buck” (Donna) Payne of Evansville; a grandson, Dallas Conner; sister-in-law, Virlee Payne and many nieces and nephews. God also blessed Donnie with many wonderful aunts and uncles who he hopes to see in heaven.

Donnie was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Lewis Payne and Donald Wayne “Zeek” Payne and by three brothers, Wayne, Tom and John Richard Payne. Funeral services for Donnie will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Theodore Tempel officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Donnie wanted to make sure he thanked all of his great friends for all of the love they gave to him.
