Obituary for Alice M. Gates Alice Marie (Kane) Gates, 70, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her home. Alice was born July 16, 1948 in East Chicago, IN to the late Edward Kane and Mary Penezlick. Alice worked as a private teacher and midwife, and she was active in the local Christian community.

Surviving Alice are her husband of seventeen years, Lee Gates; three sons, Jason Martin of Greensboro, NC, Jordan (Jillian) Martin of Elmhurst, IL and Sean Martin of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Zoey Martin, Lyla Martin, Miles Martin and Hazel Martin; two sisters, Joyce Kane of Whiting, IN and Angela Hopper of Evansville and a brother, Donald (Dawna) Kane of Sonoma, CA. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Funeral services for Alice will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rusty Pierce officiating.

Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse. Condolences may be made online at www.
