Althea Florence Ackerman October 08, 1950 – January 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Althea Florence (Mow) Ackerman, age 68, of Mayville, MI passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital in Lapeer, MI surrounded by her family. Althea was born October 8, 1950 in Croswell MI to Fred and Florence ( Hollenbeck) Mow. She graduated from Cros-Lex High School in 1969.

Althea married Theodore Ackerman on May 30, 1982. She and her family resided in Mayville after their marriage. Althea worked in Zehnder’s bakery for 15 years.

She also baked and decorated wedding cakes at home. Althea was a very talented seamstress, in addition, she enjoyed doing several types of needlework. She loved mowing lawns, even after her battle with cancer began.

She also couldn’t get her fill of doing word search puzzles. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ted; daughter, Christy Sue Rayl and her boy friend, Ryan of Owosso; one son, Leland (Rachael Marie) Ackerman of Mayville; three grandchildren, Robert Theodore Rayl, Rachel Marie Rayl and Cecily Althea Ackerman all of Mayville; brothers, Gerald (Pat) Mow of Tennessee and Donald (Joann) Mow of Florida; sisters, Carol Hinski of Texas and Sue (Mike) Ingles of Port Huron, MI; sister in law, Diane Ackerman of Mayville; and several nieces and nephews. Althea was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Florence Mow, and brother in law, Gerry Hinski.

The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Avram Funeral Home in Mayville and from 10 AM until the time of service Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Juniata Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday January 16, 2019, at Juniata Baptist Church with Pastor Lyle Ohman officiating Burial will follow in Watertown Township Cemetery Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Karmanos Cancer Institute of McLaren Region or Henry Ford Hospital.
