ALVIS WELDON REAVES age 79, of 5482 Woodsdale Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, April 26, 2018 at his home. Mr. Reaves was born April 26, 1939 in Person County, NC son of the late Jessie & Nomie Solomon Reaves and was husband of nearly 21 years to Phyllis Pleasant Reaves who survives. He was retired from Epes, Collins & Aikman Corp.

, and Ryder as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving in addition to his wife are nine children, Dwayne Reaves of Roxboro, Barry Reaves & wife, Sharon of Leasburg, NC, Bobby Reaves of Roxboro, Tara Roberts & husband, William of Statesville, NC, Greg Reaves & wife, Windy Canaday, Rhonda Smith & husband, Homer, Jason Pulliam & wife, Kimberly Solliday all of Roxboro, Christy Lloyd & husband, Larry of Nathalie, VA, Cindy Ray of Georgia, seven siblings, Louise Bowes of South Boston, VA, James Reaves & wife, Betty of Roxboro, Thelma Jones of South Boston, VA, Bessie Rowland of Roxboro, Dean Pettiford & husband, Robert of Hurdle Mills, NC, Carolyn Bowman of Danville, VA, Judy Thaxton & husband, Jack of Roxboro, twenty two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and the lone heir to Jessie Reaves, Nathan Reaves. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reaves is preceded in death by a brother, Junior Reaves.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Frankie Reaves officiating. Interment will follow in the Reaves Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Moses Clay, Chon Morales, Jeff Reaves, Randy Reaves, Tommy Rowland, and James Taborn. Arrangements are by Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services, 1810 Durham, Road, Roxboro, NC 27573. Online condolences may be made at stricklandandjonesfs.com.
