Obituary for Anastasia L. Getman (Lusckus) Anastasia L. Getman, 96, of Meriden, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 10, 2019 surrounded by her family. Anastasia was born on February 28, 1922 in Mahanoy City, PA to William and Anastasia (Churnosky) Lusckus. She was the youngest of eight children.
Anastasia was a 1939 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and attended night classes in engineering drafting at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked in a drafting position at the Pelham Map Company in New Rochelle, NY before moving onto New York Bell to work as a telephone operator. Anastasia married Alexander Alphonse Getman on June 11, 1946 and they moved to Connecticut where she continued her career as a telephone operator at Southern New England Bell in Meriden.
Together they lovingly raised six children. Anastasia was a communicant at Saint Joseph Church and more recently participated in the Mass daily on television. Anastasia was a member of the Saint Joseph Rosary Society and for many years sewed Baptismal robes for the church.
She kept active as a member and past president of the Meriden AARP Chapter 2954. She enjoyed line dancing with the New England Dance Association and at the local senior centers. Anastasia was an avid bowler, belonging to two senior bowling leagues.
Anastasia is survived by her children, Stephen Getman and his wife, Mary, Michael Getman and his wife, Sarah, Greg Getman and his wife, Jean, Alexis Burgess and her husband, Russ, Louise Getman, Lorraine Paris and her husband, Robert. Anastasia will be lovingly remembered by her eleven grandchildren, Douglas, David, Gregory, Christopher, Emily, Abby, Kari, Susan, Amy, Alex, Erin and all her great-grandchildren. She will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Anastasia was predeceased by her husband of forty-five years, Alexander and her seven siblings, Vincent Lusckus, Victor Lusckus, Amelia Lusckus, Agnes Zagarinsky, George Lusckus, Theresa Montanaro, and Elizabeth Heim. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden.
