Anna (Zuk) Hertz, 94, formerly of Marion Center, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, while a resident at the Country Meadows Retirement Community in Bridgeville, PA. She was born July 16, 1924, in Crow’s Nest, PA, the daughter of Nick and Mary (Palowchak) Zuk. Anna graduated from Springdale High School.

She was the loving wife of Charles Hertz who preceded her in death. She was proud of the work she did in support of the World War II war effort at Western Electric near Dundalk, MD, as a cable sewer for equipment made for the Signal Corps. Anna recently received a Certificate of Appreciation from the President of the United States for this work.

She later worked for American Foundry in Verona, Indiana Sportswear in Indiana, and Syntron in Homer City. As the wife of a Game Warden, she often took care of fawns, hawks with broken wings and fed baby rabbits and racoons with an eye dropper. Anna loved to cook and bake and she always had a smile for everyone.

She enjoyed cake decorating, painting and being with her bible study friends. Anna especially enjoyed traveling with her husband to attend his Army reunions. Surviving are her daughters, Lois (Greig) Berkley of Green Tree, Patricia of Freedom, and Mary (Max) Dorosa of Wexford.

There will be no viewing, but a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Ernest, PA, on Monday at 11a.m. with Father George Saletrik as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Visiting Nurse Association of Indiana County, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
