Arthur L. Martin, 85, of Stuart, VA, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his home. He was born on March 10, 1933. He was the son of Callie Ratliff Martin and Luther Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Okie Plaster, Gladys Shough, Mary Bryant, three brothers; Fletcher Martin, Troy Martin and Johnny Martin. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for 51 years serving as Deacon, Sunday School Director, RA leader and various committees. … Read More » He worked at Martinsville Machine Works, Martin Processing, Plant Manager for Colormarks in South Carolina and was part owner of MGM Yarns in South Carolina.

He was in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was a charter member of Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Dept. Surviving are his wife Frances Martin of the home, two sons; Dickie Martin and wife Taujinia of Collinsville, VA, Randall Martin and wife Lori of Patrick Springs, VA one sister; Vera Plaster of Patrick Springs, VA, six grandchildren; Brandon, Roxie, Lindsey, Sadie, Hunter, Fisher Martin, two great-grandchildren; Jacob and Eli Martin. The funeral will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Patrick Springs with Reverend Rick Anderson and Dr. Joey McNeil officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Norris Funeral Services in Stuart is serving the Martin family.
