William Henry Fowler Jr. of Martinsville passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018. Born on August 30, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of William Henry Fowler Sr. and Amanda Greinberg Fowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Ziegenfuss Fowler, a son, William Henry Fowler III, and a sister, Amanda Kichline.

He is survived by his daughter, Lizabeth Ann Fowler Wolchko and her husband, John Frank Wolchko, of Martinsville,… Read More » and sister, Georgianna Reininger of East Hampton, NY. Mr. Fowler leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Chloe Ann Wolchko and Aurora Beth Wolchko, both of Martinsville, and nephews in California, New York, Florida, and Arizona. Mr. Fowler served in the United States Army during the Korean War, rising to the rank of sergeant.

He graduated from Moravian College in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in business. Mr. Fowler sold computers for National Cash Register, and Honeywell ending his career working with Falkner Motors in Bethlehem, PA. Mr. Fowler lived in Bethlehem for 53 years until the deaths of his wife and son.

There, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem and known by many for his positive attitude and commitment to his family. For more than 30 years, Mr. Fowler was also grateful to be part of the fellowship of people who called themselves friends of Bill W. In 2013, Mr. Fowler moved to Martinsville to spend time with Liz, John, and his wonderful granddaughters. A memorial service will be held on June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with Reverend Nicholas Hall officiating.

Military rites will be performed at the internment on August 4, 2018 at Bethlehem Memorial Park in Bethlehem, PA. In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Fowler’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Rockingham County, Inc. PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Norris Funeral Services Inc. and Crematory of Martinsville is serving the family.
