Betty Ashworth Hutchinson, 85, of Mechanicsville, VA passed away on July 28, 2018. She was born on April 24, 1933 in Chase City, VA to the late George Avery Gurley and Grace Lanyon Gurley. Mrs. Hutchinson moved to the Martinsville area in 1957 and remained in the Collinsville & Bassett area until her move to Mechanicsville, VA in May of 2013.

She was a long time member of the Collinsville Church of the Brethren and enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from Bassett Walker in… Read More » 1995 after many years of service. She was an avid yard sale enthusiast and enjoyed her flower gardens.

While she experienced dementia in her latter years, she continued to enjoy people, singing and her activities (especially Bingo). She is survived by her devoted daughters, Anita Wheeler Norman (Derwood) of Ashland, VA; Karen Ashworth of Chesterfield, VA; her beloved granddaughters, Emily Semones of Roanoke VA, Sarah Horst (Andy) of Mechanicsville, VA; a great grandson, Nathaniel and a great granddaughter, Isabelle. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Elroy Ashworth who died on September 17, 1984; her second husband, Edward Hutchinson, who died on January 20, 2013; and her five siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Collinsville Church of the Brethren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Collinsville Church of the Brethren. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
