Shannon Volpe Tanner, 71, of Chatham, Va. , passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018, at her residence. She was born April 6, 1947, in Danville, Va.

to the late Hilda Hayden Volpe and the late Amedio Volpe. Mrs. Tanner is survived by her husband Charles Jesse Tanner. She previously worked at CIT in data processing.

Mrs. Tanner loved traveling and working in her church; she was a member of State Line Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tanner is survived by her daughter, Hilda… Read More » Richardson of Chatham; her sister, Maude Samuels (Richard) of Pelham, N.C.; her grandchildren, Faith Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Emily Richardson, and Joshua Nance; as well as her great-grandson, Roland Nance. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tanner was predeceased by her grandson, Patrick Charles Richardson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel with Rev. Wayne Wallace officiating.

At other times the family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt.
