Wilbern Meeks, 91, of Bassett, VA passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his home. He was born April 22, 1927 in Rocky Mount, VA to the late, Lewis Meeks and Gladys Mills Meeks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Turner; and brothers, Albert Meeks, Edward Meeks, and Junior Meeks.

Mr. Meeks was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was on the Piedmont Community Services Board, was a charter member of the Oak Level… Read More » Ruritans, and was on the Martinsville-Henry County Baptist Association Board.

Mr. Meeks was a pastor for Fairview Baptist Church and worked in and supplied ministry to churches throughout the association. He is survived by his wife, Martha Turner Meeks of the Oak Level community; daughter, Vivian Meeks Ratliff and husband, Alvin Ratliff of Pinehurst, NC; son, Kenneth Lee Meeks and wife, Brenda Lee Meeks of Maurertown, VA; brother, Shelburn Meeks of Figsboro; grandchildren, Anthony Gerard Ratliff and Maria Alexandra Ratliff; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville, VA with Rev.

Joe Glass officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or to a charity of your choice. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory of Martinsville, VA is serving the Meeks family.
