Lynn Shelton Mitchell Rourke, “Tootsie” passed away suddenly on Monday, July 2, 2018 in Amherst. Born in Waynesboro, July 12, 1949, she was the daughter of Gladys Splaun Mitchell and the late Carl Shelton Mitchell. Lynn retired after 35 years of teaching in Amherst County Schools.

But, driven by her love for the children, she was still teaching as a substitute. She was also an avid fan of The Baltimore Ravens and The UVA Cavaliers. A graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 6, 2018 in Amherst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lynn would have preferred donations of school supplies to Amherst County Schools, c/o Stephanie Moehlenkamp in the Administration Building or donations to Amherst Cares, c/o Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 451, Amherst, VA 24521. Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst.
