Thomas Kenneth “Ken” Clay, Sr., 85, of Collinsville, VA entered his eternal home on September 12, 2018 to reside with his Lord and Savior after an extended illness. He was born on March 22, 1933, in Enfield, NC to the late Peter “Pete” and Vera Clay. Kenneth’s interests were golfing, wood working, fishing and flying model airplanes.

Mr. Clay will be especially remembered for his devoted time as a volunteer fireman from 1961-2016 in Enfield, NC and Collinsville, VA. He served as Chief… Read More » and other various positions in the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department including Chef, and held certifications to instruct Fire Training in the state of North Carolina and Virginia. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He served the Army 1954-1956 with rank of Special 3rd Class as NATO Top Secret Coder. Ken leaves behind wife Margaret Harris Clay; children, Thomas “Tommy” Clay and wife Tina of Martinsville, VA, Ann Clay of Yadkinville, NC and Nancy Clay of Winston-Salem, NC. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Ridgeway, VA with a 2:00 p.m. service immediately following with Pastor Doug Ramsey and Dr. G.H. Vaughan officiating.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC. The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers of Mountain Valley Hospice and Blue Ridge Nursing Center for their assistance and devotion to Mr. Clay. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 18075 AL Philpott Hwy, Ridgeway, VA 24148, or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Suite 13, Martinsville, VA 24112.
