Harry Lee Petty, of Danville, Va. , passed peacefully on September 12, 2018, after a brave fight with COPD. His family remained by his side in his last days.

He was born December 1, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Emmett and Lillian Adkins Petty; and his sister, Carolyn Petty. Harry Lee was an entrepreneur who co-owned Petty’s Nursery, Petty’s Plant World, and H & M Enterprises.

He was a sub-contractor for C&P Telephone Company. He loved his… Read More » family and friends, classic cars, watching western movies, Chapstick, Bojangles biscuits, and a cup of coffee. He had an infectious laugh that was usually followed by a loud hand clap.

We are grateful for the care he received while at Duke Regional Hospital. We love you, Papa. Mr. Petty is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Martin Petty; daughters, Dianne Petty Bryant (Jon), and Allison Petty; grandchildren, Natalie Lakey, Owen Felts, Taylor Bryant, Erin Bryant, Amber Bryant, Patrick Bryant; and great granddaughter, Cadence Fuqua.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel with Rev. John Lester and Rev.

Mike Hearp officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018, at Norris Mt.

Hermon Chapel, and at other times at the residence. The family respectfully requests donations be made to Mount Hermon Vol. Fire & Rescue, 4268 Franklin Tpke.
