Emory Mason Haymore, 74, of 201 Shields Road, Danville, Va. , went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born on February 18, 1944, to the late Gladys Glover Haymore and Samuel Preston Haymore.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Adams Haymore, of the home. Emory attended George Washington High School and served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965. His ship, the USS Hisson DDG17, was deployed to Cuba during the Crisis of 1963.

He also served aboard the USS… Read More » Cunningham. He was very proud of his service with US Navy, attaining the rank of EN3. Emory retired from Goodyear Tire following 30 years of service.

Emory especially enjoyed spending time with family. His hobbies included fishing, and many shooting competitions; he competed in national shows including the 1979 Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn. Emory loved the Lord and was a former member and deacon of Arlington Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Brenda, Emory is survived by his grandson, Mason Anthony Owens; his son-in-law, Michael Owens and wife, Jamie; and his daughter-in-law, Denya Haymore. He is also survived by his stepsons, Tony Adams and wife, Laurie, and Gary Adams and wife, Kim; his stepdaughter, Crystal Hipkins and husband, Brian; and grandchildren, Seth Adams, Jordan Adams, Haley Adams, Austin Adams, Lindsey Adams, Ava Hipkins, Jaylen Hipkins and Maci Hipkins. He is further survived by his brother, Richard Haymore and wife, Neda, along with nieces, Robin Haymore and Jennifer Haymore Dietz.

He also leaves his former wife, Barbara Haymore. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haymore was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Wayne Haymore; his daughter, Tracy Haymore Owens; and his granddaughter, Abigail Grace Owens. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Norris Funeral Services, Mt.

Hermon Chapel, with Rev. Brian Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, September 29, 2018, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 7202 Glen Forest Dr., Suite 305, Richmond, Virginia 23226 (www. arthritis.org).
