Thomas E. Astin, Sr., 75, of Danville, Va. , passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born April 23, 1943, in Danville to Helen Cassada Astin and the late Albert S. Astin.

Mr. Astin first married Joan Sheets Astin, who preceded him in death on April 14, 2008. He later married Barbara Brown Astin, who survives. Mr. Astin was co-owner of Wise Hundley Electric Co

Astin, Jr. and wife, Brenda of Danville, William “Billy” S. Astin and wife, Kristy of Blairs, and David P. Astin and wife, Lisa of Danville; his step-children, Rusty S. Waller and wife, Lindsay of Danville and Chrystal Mayberry and husband, Jerry of Danville; his brother, Doug Astin; and his sister, Brenda Sumrell; as well as 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife and father, Mr. Astin was predeceased by his brother, Albert “Pete” S. Astin.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Faith Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Lackey officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, and at other times at the residence.
