Terry Lee Gilley, 88, of 123 Sinclair St. Ridgeway, VA passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018. He was born August 20, 1929 in Bassett, VA to the late Johnnie B. Gilley and Carrie Annice Gilley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Johnnie Hughes Gilley.

Mr. Gilley was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeway for many years. He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from E. I. DuPont… Read More » after 35 years.

Terry’s hobbies were traveling, shooting pool, and taking care of his lawn. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Hamblett “Gerry” Gilley of the home; sister-in-law, Garvin B. Gilley of Myrtle Beach, SC; two nephews, Lee Gilley and Stacey Gilley of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marcella and Ray Peters of Ferrum, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alton and Pat Hamblett of Union Hall, VA; very special niece, Marcie Rae Peters of Pittsburg, PA; and many other dear nieces and nephews. Also many in laws on his wife’s side of the family who loved him like a brother.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Lewis Harris officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home in Ridgeway. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Ridgeway, P.O. Box 715, Ridgeway, VA 24148. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory of Martinsville, VA is serving the Gilley family.
