DeLavinia “Dee” Covington, 95, of Stuart, VA passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. She was born on March 26, 1923 in Patrick County, VA to the late Walter E. Spencer and Madeline Joyce Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Pete Covington; brothers, J. Paul Spencer, Wayne E. Spencer, Rudolph Spencer, Frank D. Spencer; John Howard Spencer, and Ralph Pinkney Spencer; daughter, Bonnie Covington Ashworth; and grandson, Kristopher… Read More » Ashworth.

Mrs. Covington attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. Her love of animals and flowers will be passed on to family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue Covington McCormack; grandson, Kevin Ashworth and wife, Jennifer; great-grandson, Trey Ashworth and wife Lacey; great-granddaughter, Kayla Dee Ann Ashworth and great-great grandson, Spencer Ashworth, three sisters, Nancy Grant from Abingdon, Rachel Cheatwood from Myrtle Beach, SC , and Jane Shumate and husband Jesse from Martinsville; special nephew, David Spencer; and sister-in-law, Peggy Jefferson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Stuart Chapel with Trey Ashworth officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services in Stuart, VA. Burial will follow the service at Spencer Family Cemetery in Patrick Springs.
