Peggy Poteat Purgason, age 82 (“39”) of Danville, VA went home to be with our Lord on June 26, 2018. She was born April 7, 1936 in Danville to the late Elaine Fitch Poteat and the late Hollis Malloy Poteat. Peggy was married to the late Garnett Mason Purgason.

She worked as an office manager for Thompson, Inc. for 26 years and was co-owner of “A Touch of Class” catering. Peggy was extensively involved in the community as she was associated with the March of Dimes, Danville Cancer Society,… Read More » and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved playing cards, especially Bridge, reading, spending time with family and friends, and cutting a rug.

Nanaw had a passion for traveling (especially the beach) and the theater. Peggy was blessed with two daughters, Tami Ricketts and husband Mark of Chesterfield, Va. , and Debi Motley (deceased) of Danville, Va.

She is survived by her sister, June Gwynn of Yanceyville, NC, her nephew, Joseph M. Gwynn, three grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Motley, Anthony and Klare Ricketts, and Laura and Alex Filicko, as well as three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Mason and Oakley Anne Filicko and Jackson Thomas Vanderpool. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. till 1:45 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Danville, Va. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 p.m on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Danville, Va.
