Mrs. Barbara Helene Valovic, 79, departed this life and entered her home in heaven on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, New York surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born on January 18, 1940 to the late Willard and Dorothy (Kennedy) McGregor. She was educated in Meco and Mayfield Schools.

On January 3, 1959 she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Anthony John Valovic III, a loving union of thirty-six years until his death in 1995. Barbara was a compassionate, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a sister. She spent her entire life taking care of other people’s needs.

She would go without before depriving another person or animal. Barbara was a stay at home mother who nurtured not only her children but also dozens of others over the years. She was mom to so many.

She was employed at Garfalls, Independent Leather and That Tape Place. Barbara was of Christian faith. For many years she was a member of the Bleecker Street Church of Christ working endless hours aside her sisters to keep the spirit of Christ alive in all of their endeavors.

She was an animal advocate and lover who sponsored animal shelters and rehabilitated animals ranging from bird to deer, otter and skunk. Barbara also enjoyed camping with her family and friends. She is survived by one son Anthony Valovic IV and his wife Carrie, one daughter Hope Ann Valovic-DeZolt and her husband Charlie, two sisters Sandra Bowers (Richard) of Gloversville and Pamela Berry (James, deceased) of Johnstown; grandchildren Johnathan (Amanda), Jessica, Steven, Juliana, Lexi, Bethany, Mackenzie, one great-granddaughter Madeline Grace, three special nieces, Tammy, Lisa, Jenny, one nephew Richard and great nephew, Solon, cousins and her dogs Peyton Manning and Beanie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown with Pastor Peter Ellis officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown in the spring.
