Benny Melville Sullivan, age 67, of Rogersville, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at the UT Medical Center. He was a son of the late Harry and Blanche Sullivan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Guy and Ruth Trent; nephew, Robert Sullivan; and brother-in-law, Michael Trent.

He attended Dodson Creek Methodist Church, where he rededicated his life on the Sunday before his surgery. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, UT Vols football, memories of Pressmen’s Home where he was born and raised and received his childhood nickname, “Cotton”, and later nicknamed “Grey Wolf”. He attended Rock Hill Elementary School, graduated from Rogersville High School, and received his Associates Degree from Walter State Community College.

He also enjoyed tutoring his nieces and nephews in math and watching them turn an “F” grade into an “A” grade. Benny worked for 28 years at Dodge Reliance, co-owned Rogersville All-Sports for 15 years, and conducted the auctions for People Loving People for several years. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Kathy Sullivan; sister, Terry Sullivan; brothers James “Ed” Sullivan and wife Peggy, and Jerry Sullivan and wife Penny; special uncle, Willie Sullivan and wife Joann; brothers-in-law, Danny Trent and wife Brenda, and Ricky Trent and wife Janice; sister-in-law, Audrey Ferrell and husband Dale.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of friends who he loved as family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center at Allendale, and UT Medical Center for their loving care and support given to Benny and his family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home and on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Dodson Creek Methodist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Floyd Ward officiating. The graveside service will follow in Kite Cemetery.
