Obituary for Berniece Crossfield Berniece Crossfield passed away April 7, 2018, at age 94. Berniece was born February 18th, 1924, and moved with her family to Beloit while very young. She later met her husband Kenneth, the love of her life, there at a dance at Grinnell Hall.

They corresponded during WWII while Ken served in the Navy, and were married on April 5th, 1944, at her parents’ home. Berniece worked for Fairbanks Morse and Co. until Ken returned from active duty in 1946. Son Jim was born in 1947 and son Jeff arrived in 1952.

Berniece later worked for Gearhart’s TV, and enjoyed many years with Beloit Public Schools as secretary at Lincoln Jr. High and McNeal Middle School. Over the years Berniece enjoyed hobbies including ceramics, leather working, and especially quilting. She was a member of the DAR and Coterie, and enjoyed networking with “the club,” old high school friends.

Her family dearly loved her, and Berniece will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Berniece is survived by Kenneth, her husband of 74 years, sons James (Nancy) and Jeffrey (Diane), grandchildren Theresa (Brian) Donaldson, Ian (Betsy), Paula, Scott, and David, and great grandchild Miriam Donaldson. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Jesse Farmer, and her sisters Henrietta Lamb and Margaret Hayes.

Grateful thanks to the staff of So Close To Home in Marshall and to Generations Hospice Care. Funeral service for Berniece will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
